The Jamaica Stock Exchange was incorporated as a private limited company in August 1968 and commenced operations in February 1969. Stocktrading is restricted to Broker-members who trade both as agents and as principals. The types of securities traded aresecurities, ordinary/common shares, preference shares and corporate bonds. The Jamaica Central Securities Depository Limited (JCSD) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Jamaica Stock Exchange and is a facility for holding securities which enables share transactions to be processed by book entry.
